Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 25, 2026

Welcome to Timemark.

Timemark is a mobile application that allows users to capture photos and videos with verified location (GPS coordinates, address) and timestamp data watermarked directly onto the media, serving as proof of presence at a specific place and time.

This Privacy Policy explains how Timemark handles your information. If you choose to use our Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. We are committed to being transparent about what data is and is not collected.

Our Core Privacy Principle

Timemark is an offline-first application. All photos, videos, notes, and location data you capture are stored exclusively on your device. We do not operate servers, we do not collect your media or location data, and we do not transmit your personal content anywhere. No account or registration is required to use the app.

What We Do Not Collect

Timemark does not collect or transmit:

  • Your photos or videos
  • Your GPS coordinates or location history
  • Your notes, project names, or any text you enter
  • Your name, email address, or any account information (no account system exists)

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Timemark stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Captured media: Photos and videos saved to the app's private storage directory, optionally also to your device's photo library if you enable that setting.
  • Verification metadata: GPS coordinates, compass heading, altitude, timestamp, and reverse-geocoded address embedded as watermarks on your media and stored in a local SQLite database.
  • Verification sidecar files: A cryptographic signature and SHA-256 hash stored alongside each media file to verify its authenticity.
  • Notes and projects: Titles, notes, and project organization you create, stored in a local database.
  • App preferences: Settings such as coordinate format, image quality, and watermark configuration, stored using system preferences on your device.

All of this data remains on your device. We have no access to it. Uninstalling the app removes all app data from private storage.

Device Permissions

Timemark requests the following device permissions. Each permission is used solely for the core functionality described below:

Camera

Required to capture photos and videos. Camera access is only active when you open the camera screen within the app.

Microphone

Required for video recording and for the voice-to-text note input feature. Microphone access is only active when you are recording video or using voice input.

Location (Precise / Fine)

Required to obtain GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude) that are embedded as verification data in your captured media. Location is read at capture time and stored locally on your device. We do not track your location continuously or in the background.

Photos / Media Library

Required only if you enable the "Save to Gallery" option in settings, which duplicates captured media to your device's public photo library. You can use the app without granting this permission.

Third-Party Services

Timemark uses the following third-party services. These services may collect certain technical information as described in their respective privacy policies:

Additionally, when converting GPS coordinates to a human-readable address (reverse geocoding), the app uses the geocoding service provided by your device's operating system, which may make a network request to Google's or Apple's geocoding infrastructure. No personal identifiers are sent — only the GPS coordinates are transmitted for the purpose of address lookup.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Timemark displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob to support the app's development. AdMob may collect and use certain information to serve relevant ads, including:

  • Device advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
  • IP address and approximate location derived from IP
  • Device type, operating system version, and app version
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. For more information, please review Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data practices.

iOS: App Tracking Transparency

On iOS 14.5 and later, we will ask for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before allowing AdMob to access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized ads. You may deny this request and still use all features of the app. If denied, AdMob will display non-personalized ads instead.

Android: Ad Personalization

On Android, you can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting your device's Google Settings > Ads and enabling "Opt out of Ads Personalization".

Log Data

In the event of an error or crash, technical log data may be captured by the operating system or third-party SDKs (such as AdMob). This log data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, device name, operating system version, the state of the app at the time of the error, and the date and time of the occurrence. This information is used solely for diagnostic purposes by the relevant third-party service.

Security

Timemark employs several security measures to protect your locally stored data:

  • Encryption keys are stored in your device's encrypted system keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
  • Each captured media file is accompanied by a cryptographic signature and SHA-256 hash to verify its integrity and authenticity.

Since your data never leaves your device, it is not subject to transmission over the internet. However, we encourage you to secure your device with a screen lock to further protect your data.

Data Sharing and Export

Timemark does not share your photos, videos, notes, or location data with any third party. The only way your captured content leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to share or export it using the share functionality within the app (e.g., sharing a photo via messaging or email). In those cases, you are in full control of what is shared and with whom.

Children's Privacy

Timemark is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal information ourselves, there is no data for us to delete. However, please be aware that Google AdMob, as a third-party service, may collect data as described in its own privacy policy. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child is using this app, we recommend reviewing Google's family policy guidelines. Please contact us at lichitech.vn@gmail.com if you have concerns.

Your Rights and Choices

Because Timemark does not collect or store your personal data on any server, there is no data held by us that you need to request access to, correction of, or deletion of. You have full control over all data stored on your device:

  • Delete data: Use the "Delete All" option in the app's Data Management settings to wipe all local app data, or simply uninstall the app.
  • Opt out of personalized ads: Deny the ATT prompt on iOS, or use the Opt Out of Ads Personalization setting on Android.
  • Revoke permissions: You can revoke any permission (Camera, Microphone, Location, etc.) at any time in your device's system settings. Revoking a permission will disable the corresponding feature in the app.
  • Export your data: Use the "Export All" option in settings to create a full backup of your local data at any time.
